Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang Valley trekking is also called the Valley of Glaciers Trek. Langtang is the closest place to Kathmandu where you can see the massive snow-capped mountains and beautiful glaciers. This valley is located only 19 miles north of Kathmandu. The whole valley is dominated by Mount Langtang Lirung (7246 m/23766 ft) and offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock, snow-capped peaks and beautiful meadows.
The start of the trek is an eight-hour drive from Kathmandu in the town of Syabrubesi. From Syabrubesi you will follow the Langtang River to the east until you get to Kyangin Gompa (3,049/10000 ft) with the overnight stay at Lama Hotel. On the fourth day, you will arrive at Langtang Valley. Before the earthquake in April of 2015, you could visit a Tibetan village and see their lifestyle. This was all destroyed but is being rebuilt.
The last destination on this trek is Kyanjin Gompa. You will visit an ancient Buddhist monastery and glaciers in Langtang. On the second day you will have the opportunity to ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m/14268 ft). From the top, you will get a 360-degree view of the entire Langtang region.
From the Langtang Valley you can take an alternate hike to Langshisha Kharka. It is approximately 10 hours to Kyanjing Gompa. We recommend bringing snacks and some water with you. Along the way, you get some great views of the nearby peaks including Dorje Lakpa and Shisha Pangma, the only 8,000-meter peak in Tibet. Along the way you will see moraines, which are accumulations of dirt and rocks that have fallen onto the glacier surface or have been pushed along by the glacier as it moves. In Langshisha Kharka, you will see a number of poles with colorful Buddhist prayer flags. After lunch, we return to the Kayanjing Gompa. From Kyangjin, you retrace your route back down from valley to Syabrubesi and then drive back to Kathmandu.
This beautiful trek takes you from low altitude along the thunderous raging river, up through the jungle to the snow-capped peaks.
